In the Pacific Time Zone, the New Moon will occur at 5:37 a.m. on Thursday, June 6. This New Moon finds the Moon and Sun conjunct (0°) at 16°17’ of Gemini. To further clarify how this New Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate of 16°17’Gemini in your birth/natal chart. The issues associated with that house are going to be most influenced by this New Moon’s presence. (NOTE: Click here to learn how to find the transiting Moon in your chart.)
New Moons always provide us with an opportunity for a new emotional start in the areas associated with the sign. This time, we are focused on Gemini:
- The higher expression of this sign includes being communicative, social, flexible, curious, and open to learning new things.
- The lower expression can lead to being overly talkative, scattered mentally, impatient, restless, and indecisive.
Gemini is about mental energy, learning, and communication. The entire month of June is supercharged with the energy of twins, but especially the first few weeks. At the time of this New Moon, we have 5 planets in Gemini: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter. Additionally, Mercury is extra powerful because it is ruled by Gemini. Therefore, we should probably add the word “very” before each of the keywords mentioned above and an exclamation point after them. Keep in mind that this includes the keywords for both the higher and lower expressions.
During the New Moon, the Sun and Moon are both in exact conjunctions (orb of 0°31’) with Venus in Gemini. This could mean that we bring new mental and emotional energy into our relationships, creative endeavors, or any financial plans. We may find it easier than usual to express our desires and love in these areas. Social contacts of all kinds are likely positive because we may have a better understanding of the emotions and needs of those around us and of ourselves, if we are willing to pay attention and not be too distracted.
However, the Sun, Moon, and Venus are all closely squaring (90°) Saturn in Pisces. One or more of those same issues (i.e., relationships, creative endeavors, finances) may feel like a burden. We need to explore whether we are using our emotional and physical resources wisely. This review may reveal a need to set some boundaries in our life, either with others (e.g., what we are willing to do or tolerate) or with ourselves (e.g., how much we spend or where we spend our time). Luckily, Saturn is in Pisces which can help us be flexible and compassionate when doing this.
Additionally, Jupiter just recently (May 25) moved into Gemini for a year-long stay (until June 9, 2025). Over the last years while Jupiter was in Taurus, we may have slowly and methodically dealt with earthly matters such as our home, business, or finances. As it moves into Gemini, we may see doors opening to new opportunities (sometimes in seemingly magical ways). This can also be a year of abundance, expansion, new relationships, and hope for the future. Because Gemini is an air sign, we are all going to be mentally focusing on concepts such as our beliefs, spirituality, advanced learning, ethics, and morals.
A close trine (120°) between Jupiter and Pluto means any changes may involve changing our perspective in profound ways, secrets being revealed, healing deep issues, and/or letting go of something that no longer serves us. The trine indicates that these changes could happen very easily. What might have seemed impossible in the past suddenly seems very achievable. For some, the time around the New Moon could actually lead to transformational life experiences. If nothing else, we have an opportunity to step into our power and possibly plant seeds that eventually bear wonderful fruit.
When all of this is combined, there are definitely opportunities for expansion and growth. However, because Saturn is squaring planets in Gemini, we may encounter some lessons and need to make some changes (Saturn) that involve how we think and communicate (Gemini). Saturn means we need to be disciplined and take responsibility. Jupiter, on the other hand, is the planet of expansion, but it also can lead to excess. Therefore, we need to be extra careful (Saturn) and not to go too far and insist that others agree with our beliefs. Jupiter also represents justice, so if we go to extremes with our thoughts or words, Saturn warns us that we may eventually be held accountable in some way. Forewarned is forearmed! And yes, this does impact everyone. Consequently, we may be seeing people in the news communicating about very strongly held beliefs in ways that eventually come back to “bite them in the butt,” as they say.
As for us individually, this is a very good time to look carefully at how we are talking to ourselves. Many astrologers believe that the Gemini New Moon is associated with the Law of Attraction and manifestation. Watch for negative self-talk. Remember that often what we focus on is what we get. Luckily, we have both of the “beneficent” planets (i.e., Venus, Jupiter) in light-hearted Gemini. Therefore, it should be easier than usual to keep our thoughts positive and our mood light, but we have to choose to go in this direction.
On Saturday, June 8, Mars will move out of Aries and into Taurus, where it will stay until July 20. This can help us ground some of the recent effervescent Gemini energy and convert some of Gemini’s great ideas into practical form. However, in order to take advantage of Mars in Taurus, we have to be willing to slow down enough to take the necessary actions. Mars wants to go fast, but Taurus tells us to slow down and be careful. If we can find an effective balance, we can get a lot done over the next 6 weeks! Taurus will support us in being patient, persistent, and determined. The only true downside of Mars in Taurus is that we need to consciously avoid the lower expressions of stubbornness or resistance to change because those could interfere with what could be amazing forward progress.
Finally, on Tuesday, June 11, Mars in Taurus will be in an exact square (90°) with Pluto in Aquarius. This is a very powerful combination! Taurus and Aquarius are fixed signs, which means they want to get things done; and Mars is all about energy, courage, and action. The higher expression of this square includes increased confidence, determination, and motivation to take very important actions. This may involve starting something, ending something, or courageously breaking through a previously thought impenetrable barrier. There’s a very real possibility of creative transformation in at least one area of our lives. At the very least, it means we may have an opportunity to deal with something that we have been avoiding. However, I do want to mention that the lower expression of the Mars-Pluto square is being emphasized by some astrologers. Although power struggles, aggression, and even violence are possible lower expressions, we each need to remember that we can personally choose how we use the astrological influences.
Overall, this Gemini New Moon is advising us to consciously choose our thoughts and words. This is a time of amazing potential. Breakthroughs, forward progress, and “strokes of luck” are all possibilities. Although Jupiter could cause us to go too far, having Mars move into Taurus on June 8 will help us curtail any excess. Jupiter will help us be more optimistic and keep conversations light. For those who have knowledge of the Law of Attraction (LOA), now is a good time to dust off our handouts/manual/books and reinvest in those skills. Or if the LOA is a new subject, use the curiosity of Gemini to learn more about this powerful tool. Some options? Make a vision board. Spend time envisioning the future as you want it to be. Focus on what we are grateful for. The astrologer Kathy Rose summarized the energy in early- and mid-June beautifully when she said, “Say it, and then do it.” I would add, “Think it, and then do it.” Once we enter the latter part of June, Mars will still be strongly influencing us, but the predominant energy will shift from Gemini to Cancer. This will change the expression to, “Feel it, and then do it.” No matter what, June is clearly about doing!
