FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS – This is what we came here to do, so let’s get to work! (August 3, 2020)

Astrology-New-Moon-Full-MoonIn the Pacific Time Zone, the Moon will be full at 8:58 a.m. on Monday, August 3.  With this Full Moon, the Sun in Leo will be in opposition (180°) to the Moon in Aquarius.  To further clarify how this Full Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 12° of Leo and 12° of Aquarius in your birth/natal chart.  The issues associated with those two houses are going to be most impacted by this Full Moon’s presence.

NOTE:  As I write this Moon Update, I am in the process of closing my brick-and-mortar store, the Impart Wisdom & Wellness Center in Santa Ana, CA.  I valiantly attempted to save my center, but the impact of the pandemic was just too great.  I was able to negotiate out of my lease, but the owner required that I vacate within 3 weeks, which will fall on July 31.  For this reason, this Moon Update is going to have to be briefer than I would like.  Although it may appear longer than usual, there is so much more that could be said!  I did consider the option of skipping it, but I felt it was important to get this information out to you given the astrological (and societal) events occurring,

With all Full Moons, we are being asked to evaluate whether or not we are effectively balancing two seemingly opposite ways of approaching our lives.

  • The Sun is in Leo: The Sun represents our basic identity.  The Sun is the ruler of Leo, so the Sun is in its happy place, which means it can freely express itself.  We may be feeling more self-confident, big hearted, loving, and loyal than usual.  Leo is about what we create in the world that is a unique expression of our soul.  It’s about loving others, but that love needs to come from a heart place and not an ego place.  We also need to be careful not to be overly dramatic in an effort to get attention.
  • The Moon is in Aquarius: The Moon represents our emotions and daily habits.  Being in Aquarius isn’t an easy place for the Moon.  Aquarius asks us to put our individual needs aside and focus on what we can do to serve humanity as a whole.  The Moon likes to express its emotions, but Aquarius prefers to be detached and think things through.  However, right about now, having a “cool(er) head” might be to our advantage!

Why would “cool heads” be an advantage right now?  Well . . . welcome to the latter part of 2020!  Beginning with the Aquarius Full Moon and going all the way through January of 2021, Mars will be making a series of challenging squares (90°) to the three planets that are closely grouped together in Capricorn:  Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto.  These are likely going to be a challenging few months for everyone.  It will be hard for us to avoid conflict, so we need to consciously realize that it’s how we react to what is happening that is critical to our success.

We will talk more about the influence of Mars shortly, but back to this Full Moon.  At the time of this lunar event, the Sun and Moon are both in very tight squares (90°) to Uranus, which is likely to kick off this stressful time period in a big way.  T-squares form a right triangle, and they demand attention and often action.  The planet that is being squared (i.e., Uranus) often indicates the action needed in order to best handle the tension (and perhaps conflict) between the two opposing planets.  Given how tight the squares are to Uranus and the fact the Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius (which adds to its power right now), this is a very potent t-square!

Uranus is often a difficult planet for many of us because it represents change that is often unexpected, which is the kind of change that most humans like the least.  The good news is that those of us who are into astrology have a trick up our proverbial sleeves to cope with this situation.  Whenever Uranus’s energy is strongly influencing us, we need to remember not to resist.  It’s telling us this change is needed for our continued growth and evolution.  As long as we are willing to “go with the flow,” then things will go smoothly.  It’s when we resist the influence of Uranus that things tend to go haywire.  We need to trust in the Divine Order and Divine Timing of even seemingly incomprehensible changes.  All will eventually make sense, but we have to trust that the Universe has our backs, even though it doesn’t seem like it at times.

Uranus is currently located in Taurus, so the issues that could be involved include money, possessions, employment, security issues, and possibly even the environment/Earth issues.  We need to remember that the bull is usually a very docile creature, happily living out its days in its own pasture.  However, if backed into a corner, it will charge.  If that’s the case, Uranian change will still happen, but only after the bull has done some destruction in order to make its feelings very clear.

I feel it’s also critically important to remember that change can be positive or negative.  When reading this Moon Update, observe your thoughts.  Are you imagining the worse case scenario?  Are you moving into fear?  The Law of Attraction is what I’ll be talking about in my next online class on August 13 from 7:00-9:30 p.m. Pacific Time.  (Click here if you would like to join us.) According to this powerful Law, if you are feeling fearful, then fearful experiences are more likely to come your way.  We all need to remind ourselves that change can also be positive.  For example, given that Uranus is in Taurus, this could mean a new job or receiving some inheritance.  That is positive, right?  If we focus on gratitude for what any changes are bringing into our lives, then more experiences eliciting gratitude will come into our lives.

Just a final note on this:  Due to the very strong Capricorn influence right now, even a positive change will likely come with added responsibilities.  How we view this (e.g., fear/victimization versus optimism/gratitude) is important.  Undertake these new demands joyfully and with integrity, which is Jupiter in Capricorn’s influence.

So now, let’s get back to Mars.  I’ll be talking more about this in the months to come, but for now, please realize that the “warrior” aspect of Mars is alive and kicking right now.  Around this Full Moon, it may, in fact, be a bit out of control for some people due to Mars being in an extremely close square (90°) to expansive Jupiter.  Things could easily get “out of control” if we aren’t careful.

When the power of the square (90°) between Mars and Jupiter is combined with the strong influence of the square (90°) between the Aquarius Full Moon and Uranus, this could mean (continued) social, economic, and political unrest.  Those in authority may try to exert control if they feel that words or actions are not “appropriate.”  However, these efforts may be meet with strong, Mars-fueled resistance, especially given Uranus tends to rebel when it encounters anything blocking its inherent need for freedom.  (NOTE:  I’m not here to judge or make any political statements.  I’m simply reporting what I’m seeing in the alignment of the stars at this time.)  On a more personal level, things may not go exactly as we expect them to go, which may be unsettling.  But again, whether we are discussing what’s happening individually or collectively, we need to do our best to not resist what is happening.

During all of this, Mercury will be in a very close opposition (180°) to Saturn and a wider opposition (180°) to Jupiter and Pluto.  To be honest, this doesn’t help.  Words could be out of control (Jupiter) and could be used in an attempt to dominate and control (Pluto).  We may all feel defensive, perhaps with good reason.  If we are lucky, Saturn’s more responsible and stoic approach to the world may help counter Jupiter and Pluto’s obsessive need to express.  However, when Mercury is in opposition to Saturn, we often feel fairly negative and pessimistic.  Also, there could be a “Mercury in retrograde” feel to the time around the Full Moon due to problems with communication, difficulty with “red-tape,” and having to re-do tasks.

At the time of the Full Moon, it is interesting to note that all three planets in Capricorn (i.e., Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto) are all in retrograde, as is Neptune.  Uranus will be following suit come August 15, which means that by mid-August, all 5 of the outer planets will be retrograde for about 4 weeks.  Jupiter will be the first planet to break the pattern and begins moving direct in mid-September.  What does this mean?  In a nutshell, the events that are happening around us are very likely a catalyst for a great deal of inner review related to our values, responsibilities, integrity, the foundations in our life, and goals for the future.

Just one more note on the Aquarius Full Moon.  There is a conjunct (0°) between Venus and the North Node in Cancer, which means Venus is in opposition (180°) to the South Node in Capricorn.  This could mean that the old way of authority (South Node in Capricorn) needs to give way to a new order of compassion and understanding.  Listening and really hearing what others are saying will be key.

On Tuesday, August 4, Mercury moves into Leo for a brief 2-week stay.  This may provide us with some support . . . or not.  The good news is that when Mercury is in Leo, our thinking often becomes more confident, positive, and even playful.  We are likely thinking about a goal, and the grander the better!  However, the lower expression of this placement is talking for dramatic effect, which probably wouldn’t be very helpful given all the volatile energy present during the month of August.  But normally, this is a time when we don’t mind giving a speech or telling a story.  We all can be more pervasive and exude more confidence when speaking or writing.

Then on Friday, August 7, Venus will enter Cancer, where it will remain until September 7.  This, too, may provide some support for what could be a volatile month.  While in Cancer, Venus wants us to become more nurturing and compassionate.  We may feel more protective of others and of ourselves.  However, within our relationships and with our finances, there is often an increased sense of caution as we become more security-minded.  But we tend to be very devoted, loving, and caring, especially if we are with someone who makes us feel safe.

Overall, I think you see why I felt I needed to make the time to write this Moon Update, even in the midst of my own “season of change.”  This lunar event is kicking off a 4-month period that is going to bring challenges.  With this Aquarius Full Moon, we need to find a way to confidently use our personal creative power (Leo) in a way that serves the greater good (Aquarius).  There is a drive toward self-determination and fairness around this time, which might clash head-on with a felt need by authority figures to clamp down on any words or actions that are deemed “inappropriate.”  Power struggles are likely, especially over the rights of individuals or groups that have been oppressed.  The harder we push against something, societally or personally, the more resistance will be experienced.

So, what can we do?  Although avoiding conflict and challenges is almost impossible, we need to reframe these next few months as an opportunity to use our skills to deal with the challenges.  What we have control over is how we react to them.  We need to breathe, remain calm, and maintain a high level of integrity and consciousness, even when surrounded by conflict.  It will also help if we can repeatedly seek out like-minded others and remember to take a step back and see the big picture.  What is being stirred up now are issues that have been ignored for a long time within our relationships, families, communities, and society as a whole.  It’s time for humanity to go to the next level of healing, and we need to be part of the solution by providing our light, love, and wisdom.  This is what we came here to the Earth plane to do, so let’s get to work!
