In the Pacific Time Zone, the Moon will be full at 1:16 a.m. on Monday, November 27.  With this Full Moon, the Sun in Sagittarius will be in opposition (180°) to the Moon in Gemini.  To further clarify how this Full Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 4°51’ of Sagittarius and 4°51’ of Gemini in your birth/natal chart.  The issues associated with those two houses are going to be most impacted by this Full Moon’s presence.  (NOTE:  Click here to learn how to find the transiting Moon in your chart.)

All Full Moons invite us to find a better balance between the qualities of the 2 signs involved.  This time, those signs are Sagittarius and Gemini:

  • Sagittarius:  The best qualities of Sag include being straightforward, generous, enthusiastic, adventurous, ethical, fun, and optimistic.  The lower expression can involve being overly blunt, self-indulgent, self-righteous, and a jack-of-all-trades-and-master-of-none.
  • Gemini:  The higher expression of this sign includes being communicative, flexible, bright, curious, and a lover of learning.  The lower expression may mean being scattered, unemotional, impatient, and overly talkative.

Many of you may be feeling a “shift in the wind” when it comes to the energy swirling around us right now.  Although some of the intense energies discussed in the last Moon Update are still present, there should be a “lightening” as we move into the end of November and early December.

As is true with all Full Moons, this one is asking us to evaluate if we have balance between the signs involved.  The annual Gemini Full Moon is often a time when we need to make sure we are seeing both the forest (Sag) and the trees (Gemini).  For example:

  • In one or more areas of our lives, it could be that we have lost the broader perspective because we are overly focused on the details.  If we get bogged down in minutia, we may lose sight of why we want to go in a particular direction and/or what it might be able to provide us.
  • Or it could be the other way around.  We may know where we want to go, but we have been avoiding those pesky details.  Without a solid foundation that takes care of “the basics,” that bigger picture can’t fully develop or serve us in the long-run.

As was the case 2 weeks ago, Mars is still in a close conjunct (0°) to the Sun.  But because this is a Full Moon, that means the Moon is in an opposition (180°) to both the Sun and Mars.  The good news is that the red planet can provide us with the energy and courage we need in order to find that better balance described above and make necessary changes.  However, whenever the Moon is in an opposition to Mars (which happens once a month), it’s important for all of us to be aware that we could find ourselves (and others) feeling pretty cranky.  Mood swings and impatience are possible, and even small issues could trigger strong emotional responses.  All of this may lead to arguments that could be productive or might be totally pointless.

The two ends of this opposition (i.e., Sun/Mars and Moon) are all squaring (90°) Saturn.  This forms one of those t-squares (i.e., right triangles) with Saturn as the “focal planet.”  The energy and qualities associated with Saturn can provide us with guidance regarding how to navigate the challenges associated with this opposition.

Yes, t-squares motivate us to take action, but Saturn tells us that although Mars wants to act impulsively, the more mature and responsible approach is to slow down and make sure we are ready to move forward in a particular direction.  Saturn recognizes the importance of dotting our I’s and crossing our T’s (Gemini loves this).  It also supports us in seeing that bigger picture (the purview of Sagittarius) because it wants to make sure any changes actually contribute to the creation of a solid foundation.

However, Mars just recently moved into Sagittarius, which is a fire sign.  It began this transit on Friday, November 24, and it will continue in Sag through January 4, 2024.  Mars wants to go fast, and Sagittarius is telling Mars “Full steam ahead!”  But with Saturn squaring (90°) Mars, the ringed planet will be temporarily putting a damper on the party.  Because we may feel compelled to move forward quickly due to all this fiery energy, we will need to consciously choose to pull in the proverbial reigns on the horse.  This is one of those times when remember to take a deep breathe will be very helpful!  It is likely that the direction we want to move in will work out well, but success is more likely if we let Saturn use its wisdom and discipline to support us on the way to our new goal.

Luckily, Saturn is currently moving through emotional, compassionate Pisces, and this can soften the harder edges of the sometimes overly controlling Saturn.  However, we do need to be careful that we are seeing things clearly.  The combination of reality (Saturn) and fantasy (Pisces) could sometimes blur our view of a situation.  But Pisces can also increase our ability to tap into our intuition.  Additionally, having Saturn in Pisces means that some of us will begin to take our spiritual work more seriously, especially if it’s our passion.

Mercury is also located in Sagittarius at the time of this Full Moon.  The higher expression of Sag is that it can be very open minded and tolerant of different viewpoints.  It can have a “live and let live” approach, which can support diplomatic solutions to conflicts.  However, the lower expression can include becoming self-righteous and pushing our beliefs on others.  Sag is also known for being overly blunt, so before speaking (or writing) we should take a moment to think and breathe deeply, especially if it is a potentially touchy topic.

Actually, this is one of those times when we are well-advised to choose our battles carefully because what we are perceiving may not be totally accurate.  Mercury is in a square (90°) to Neptune, which can fog up the lenses of the glasses through which we are viewing the world.  Although something may seem very real, it may not be.  We may also find that we misunderstand what others are trying to express, and there is also a good likelihood that others will misunderstand us.  But there is a positive side to this aspect.  If we allow it to work its magic, it can produce compassionate words, increase manifesting abilities, and provide inspiration that helps clarify our understanding about important issues in our life.

Finally, there is a close inconjunct (150°) between Venus and Uranus.  We may need to re-think something related to our relationships and/or finances, especially if either issue feels like it’s impinging on our desires or felt sense of freedom.  Inconjuncts are never easy.  They often leave us feeling conflicted because they require uncomfortable adjustments that don’t feel like a win-win.  Both sides will need to give up something in order to get what both sides want.  For example, Uranus tells us to embrace change and let go of the past, but Venus is telling us that we shouldn’t forget to honor what we value or desire.

On Friday, December 1, Mercury moves out of carefree Sagittarius and into the heavier energy of Capricorn.  Because Mercury will begin its final retrograde phase of 2023 on Tuesday, December 12 (ending on Sunday, December 31), it will back up into Sag on December 23 and then return to Capricorn in the middle of January 2024.  During its initial foray into Capricorn, we may find that our thoughts and conversations take on a serious tone.  This can feel rather unemotional at times, but the benefit is that our minds become more methodical, logical, rational, and practical.

Venus will enter Scorpio on Monday, December 4, where it will remain until Friday, December 29.  During this time, we may feel inclined to explore the underlying motivations within our relationships or to discover if a relationship has the potential to go deeper (or not).  Superficial contacts/interactions are not satisfying, and most of us will long for intimacy and long-lasting relationships.  This intensity also applies to finances or anything we desire in our life.

Then on Wednesday, December 6, Neptune ends its annual retrograde phase and begins moving direct again.  Unlike other planets, the more positive expression of Neptune occurs when it’s in retrograde.  When moving direct, we often have a harder time seeing things clearly because the fog rolls in and can obscure our view.  We also may find it a bit harder to tap into our intuition or compassion.  But whatever we’ve been dreaming about or imagining since the first part of July (when Neptune went retrograde) may start to come to fruition in the coming weeks and months.  We just need to be careful not to jump into any project without making sure that all of our proverbial ducks are in a row.  And this Full Moon will help with that.

Overall, the energy of this Gemini Full Moon will likely feel lighter than the last month (or two).  Some of us could successfully forge a new path, as long as we are willing to use Saturn’s wisdom to slow the proverbial train down enough to make sure the foundation of our new endeavor is realistic.  Self-discipline and setting healthy boundaries may be important now.  Given the Gemini-Sag axis is involved, many of us will be eager to learn new things and share those insights with others.  However, due to the increased emotionality at the time of this Full Moon and several tricky aspects, we should speak carefully and only after careful consideration.  Moderation in all of our projects and many of our conversations may be the key to success right now.
