REMINDER

Bell curve diagram

The impact of all New Moons and Full Moons can be depicted by a bell curve.  The impact begins about 3 days before the lunar event, steadily increases until the day of the event, and then gradually decreases for 3 days after the actual event.

Taurus Full Moon

Astrological wheel with symbols and backlighting of brilliant white, pink, purple, and blues

In the Pacific Time Zone, this Moon will be full at 1:28 p.m. on Friday, November 15.  With this Full Moon, the Sun in Scorpio will be in opposition (180°) to the Moon in Taurus.  To further clarify how this Full Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 24°00’ of Scorpio and 24°00’ of Taurus in your birth/natal chart.  The issues associated with those two houses are going to be most impacted by this Full Moon’s presence.  (NOTE:  Click here to learn how to find the transiting Moon in your chart.)

Full Moons provide us with the opportunity to check in and evaluate how we are balancing two seemingly opposite areas of our lives.  This time, we are looking at Scorpio and Taurus:

  • Scorpio:  The best qualities of Scorpio include being intense, deep, determined, investigative, passionate, healing, and transformative.  The lower expression can involve being over-bearing, intolerant, secretive, or jealous.
  • Taurus:  The higher expression of Taurus includes being down-to-earth, responsible, resourceful, reliable, patient, and loyal.  The lower expression could mean being overly materialistic, too cautious, and resistant to change.

This Taurus Full Moon – Highlights

  • This Taurus Full Moon cannot be interpreted separate from Uranus’s exact conjunct (0°) with the Moon, which means it’s in an exact opposition (180°) to the Sun.  This aspect can be exciting, energizing, and problematic.  Taurus is focused on security and safety, which comes through having things be predictable and feeling in control.  Uranus is diametrically opposed to all of Taurus’s wishes.  It brings unexpected changes.  Its purpose is to shake things up, get us to look at things in a new way, and ultimately move to the next level or stage in our evolution.  The Universe knows that if things remain the same, then our souls won’t grow.  The time around this Full Moon may feel like our sense of security is being undermined, but the goal is to increase our ability to be authentic and feel alive.  We need to surrender to the moment, even if that means letting go of plans or our vision of how things “should” happen.
  • Luckily, Neptune is closely trine (120°) the Sun and sextile (60°) the Moon.  These supportive aspects could help us be flexible and to adapt to any unexpected changes or events that cross our path due to Uranus’s influence.  Neptune’s presence can also increase our capacity for being compassionate, empathic, and tolerant.  We could find that we become more motivated to help others and/or to understand spiritual matters.
  • During this time when the ground underneath us seems a little less stable than usual, it will likely help to focus on creating a sense of inner safety, security, peace, and relaxation.  Taurus longs for peace!  We need to remember that we do have control over our inner worlds, even when the outer world is swirling around us.  Stability can come through how we perceive what is happening (e.g., positive or negative mindset) and the actions we choose to take (e.g., fight against the current or flow with it).  It may help to visualize a bull enjoying its own personal pasture.  Regardless of what is going on in adjacent fields, it feels the sun on its back and enjoys the green grass and the beautiful flowers.  We need to learn to trust that no matter what might be impacting our pasture from the outside, we are capable of handling it.
  • Venus is squaring (90°) the North and South Nodes.  This could bring up questions about a relationship, creative project, or financial investment.  At this time, we need to look at whether we are relying on past beliefs or outdated behaviors (South Node) that are keeping us from moving forward on our soul’s path (North Node), even if we aren’t completely sure where that path is leading.
  • And it is essential that we courageously move forward toward our life lessons, because Mars is in an exact trine (120°) to the North Node, which means a sextile (60°) to the South Node.  We may feel a surge in energy, determination, and endurance.  Some of us may suddenly be ready to take positive action toward resolving a particularly challenging problem.
  • The Moon is trine (120°) Pluto, which means it is sextile (60°) the Sun.  Pluto is the planet of transformation, and these supportive aspects also reinforce that we may be ready to release something (or someone) that is no longer valid to who we are becoming.  We may have reached a “tipping point” where we just can’t take it anymore.  Because there are these strong influences of both Uranus (change) and Pluto (transformation), a breakdown may actually lead to a major breakthrough that results in healing.  This could be physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual healing.  Most likely, it will be a combination of these.
  • However, it is important to keep in mind that we are still under the powerful influence of the opposition (180°) between Mars and Pluto, which will continue through mid-2025.  At the time of the Full Moon, the impact of this aspect has weakened a little bit by Mars moving into Leo (i.e., being “out of sign”).  But this could just mean that we feel less anger and more irritation because we know something is wrong but we can’t quite put our finger on what it is.  Power issues can still be present.  Given that Mars is now in Leo, those struggles could be dramatic (i.e., lions roar when they are not happy).  We need to remember to express the Mars-Pluto energy in positive ways by being physically active and productive.  If we don’t find positive outlets, the lower expression can include (over) reacting emotionally or being angry, frustrated, manipulative, or even aggressive.
  • Making relationships a bit more challenging is a square (90°) between chatty Mercury (in potentially blunt Sagittarius) and sometimes overly realistic Saturn (in emotionally sensitive Pisces).  Conversations will likely take on a serious tone.  It may be time to speak our truth about personal needs that are not being met.  But, we do need to be careful not to fall into the lower expression of a Mercury-Saturn square, which can include worry, anxiety, apprehension, or negative thinking.  Instead, we should strive to use this energy to support us in having those difficult conversations, as well as approach any tasks that require hard work or mental discipline.
  • The good news is that Mercury is also in an opposition (180°) to Jupiter, which can increase our optimism and the ability to see the big picture/the future.  However, it also is an aspect that is prone to missing important details.  If possible, we should probably wait a few days before making any major decisions in order to have time to reassess any situation when we can see both the big picture and all of the supporting details.
  • Finally, Mercury is in a supportive trine (120°) to Chiron.  Although we may feel some vulnerability or insecurity when having these serious conversations, this aspect supports us in having positive conversations that may lead to healing past issues.

Planetary Movements

  • November 11 through December 7 – Right before this Taurus Full Moon, Venus enters Capricorn.  This 3+ week transit is usually a time when we take a serious, mature look at our relationships, finances, creative endeavors, or our profession.  We could be ready to make a commitment (or renew a commitment) and work hard for whatever is important to us.  We are willing to see anything we begin now through to its completion.
  • November 15 – On the same day as the Full Moon, Saturn ends its 5-month annual retrograde phase and begins moving direct again.  As it picks up speed in the coming weeks, we will likely feel ready to take responsible actions related to our career or other practical goals.  Unlike when Saturn is in retrograde, we typically don’t encounter as many obstacles or challenges when Saturn turns direct.  This means that progress usually comes more easily.  Any rules, boundaries, or restrictions that are implemented will help bring order out of apparent chaos.
  • November 19 – After 16 years, Pluto completes its travels through Capricorn and moves into Aquarius for a 20-year stay (until 2044).  To put this in a bigger context, the last time Pluto was in Aquarius about 248 years ago (1778-1798).  This time period coincided with the American and French Revolutions.  It also was the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.  In this century, Pluto in Aquarius is very likely going to bring transformation in Aquarian topics of individual sovereignty, society, technology, and even metaphysics.
  • November 21 through December 21 – The Sun leaves the often-heavy waters of Scorpio and enters the lighter energy of Sagittarius.  This is a time of year when we typically are more willing to go on an adventure and see where the proverbial road takes us, either physically or mentally.  We seek increased knowledge and want to expand our understanding.  On this journey, we often bring along our optimism, cheerfulness, and a sense of humor.  We do need to be a bit careful about imposing what we believe to be “right” on someone else.  Sag can be a bit too blunt at times when sharing their “truth.”  We need to breathe before we speak and remember that each person has a right to their own values, beliefs, and viewpoints, even when they differ radically from our own.
  • November 25 – December 15:  Mercury will begin its final retrograde period of 2024 on November 25.  As is true with all Mercury retrograde periods, it’s nothing to be frightened of, especially if we take the usual precautions to review important documents carefully, double check any travel plans, and bring our patience and flexibility to any situation.  Luckily, this retrograde is happening in Sagittarius.  If we choose to tap into its energy, Sag can help us navigate this time period with both humor and optimism.  These 3 weeks will likely see many of us reflecting on our values, beliefs, and guiding principles.  This may result in some shifting in our inner world.  The lower expression of Mercury retrograde in Sag is digging in our heels with strong opinions about what we believe is “right and wrong”; therefore, as mentioned above, we need to avoid judgment and use the Sagittarian desire to understanding viewpoints that differ from our own.  (For further information, see my Blog post Planets in Retrograde and How to Thrive During Mercury Retrograde.)
