FULL MOON IN TAURUS-11/11/11 is an opportunity to take a giant leap forward on our path (Nov. 10, 2011)
This Full Moon on Thursday, November 10, finds the Sun in Scorpio in opposition (180°) to the Moon in Taurus. To further clarify how this Full Moon in Taurus will impact you on a personal level, locate 19° of Scorpio and 19° of Taurus in your birth/natal chart. The issues associated with those two houses are going to be most affected by this Full Moon’s presence.
This Full Moon in Taurus is a very special and very powerful Full Moon. It peaks on the eve of 11/11/11, a date of great numerological significance (see later discussion). It also coincides with several planets changing signs or ending their retrograde phases. We have reached another crucial juncture in humanity’s development. Both on an individual level and as a species, we are being asked to make a choice between awakening to our divinity and our sense of “oneness” or continuing on in a world that focuses on duality and separateness.
All Full Moons require balance between two extremes. The Moon in Taurus is a time when we need to discover what really matters. For example, we need to explore where we want to put our time, our energy, and our financial resources. As an earth sign, Taurus is concerned with building a balanced relationship to the physical plane, being in touch with our bodies and with Mother Earth, and possessing a healthy sense of self-worth that supports us in taking care of ourselves and others. Similarly, the Sun in Scorpio represent our need to discover, but with Scorpio, we are being asked to explore our “shadow sides” for the purpose of healing what needs to be healed and to accept that everything changes. As a water sign, Scorpio wants us to discover the power of emotions, passions, and the unconscious.
Therefore, during the time of this Full Moon we are being asked to find a balance between accepting things as they are and striving to fulfill unmet needs. We are being urged to align our feelings with our actions, and vice versa. Keep in mind that Full Moons can also highlight the “lower expression” of each sign, but being aware that this is possible is often all that is needed to move toward and utilize the “higher expression” of each sign. For Taurus, this can be materialism, simplicity, and an unwillingness to change. For Scorpio, this can be expressed as being manipulative, obsessive, or being unable to trust.
One final note: A Full Moon in Taurus often brings to the surface financial matters that need to be addressed. Its message is to slowly build up your resources of time, energy, and money rather than panicking and taking drastic action.
Additionally, several planets are changing signs or direction right now, which adds further support for individual and collective change:
- About a week before this Full Moon (Wednesday, November 2), both Venus and Mercury entered outgoing but restless Sagittarius. Relationships and conversations will be impacted because we will find ourselves desiring increased stimulation. We may find that we are more willing to take risks now or visit unfamiliar places.
- On Wednesday, November 9, Neptune turns direct in Aquarius. Because Neptune moves slowly, this will be the beginning of a s-l-o-w process of externalizing our dreams, ideals, and spirituality. Immediate effects are unlikely, but during the next few months, it is likely you will begin to see an increased ability to manifest what you have only been dreaming about.
- And the very next day (Thursday, November 10 – the day of the Full Moon), the asteroid Chiron turns direct in Pisces. The healing work we have been working on in private or even unconsciously will now begin to take physical form in our day-to-day experience. And with both Chiron and Neptune ending their yearly retrograde cycles at the same time (which began on June 2 and June 8, respectively), this amplifies the celestial message to unite and collaborate on a larger scale than ever before.
- That same day of the Full Moon (Thursday, November 10), Mars moves into analytical Virgo. This will help us refine our skills and develop new ones that will support the changes that are coming into our lives. Mars in Virgo also requires that we carefully analyze our methods in order to have a better chance of reaching our goals. It is also a good time to focus on getting our bodies and equipment into better shape, which will provide the tools we need to be successful.
The full impact of this Full Moon cannot be adequately addressed without discussing the numerological and metaphysical/spiritual significance of Friday, November 11, 2011 (11/11/11). In numerology, it is believed that each number carries with it a unique vibration that is often described as the process of creation. For example, the number 1 symbolizes new beginnings, fresh starts, laying foundations for new projects, whereas the number nine represents endings and completion that leads to new beginnings.
Double numbers (e.g., 11, 22, 33) are known as “master numbers.” They represent a higher octave expression of the single-digit number. The master number 11 represents the emergence of enlightenment. Therefore, the date 11/11/11 is believed to represent a spiritual initiation or gateway. This happens only once every 100 years, but it is believed to be of particular significance because it happens during the time of a Full Moon and within days of the end of the Mayan Calendar (for more information see NEW MOON IN SCORPIO-Powerful support for letting go of the old to make room for the new).
On this special day, you are encouraged to focus on your ideal vision of your life, our relationships, and the world. You can also engage in group prayers, if guided to do so. Some believe that this is a time of mass awakenings, or a time when there will be a portal opened to another universe.
Whatever your beliefs are about 11/11/11, I do encourage you to spend at least some quiet time on Friday focusing on your goals and dreams so you can better access the support provided astrologically. All Full Moons represent a time when the veil thins between our world and other dimensions. This is a time when we can more clearly see where we are and where we are choosing to go. Happening on the eve of this special date in human history adds weight to our readiness to move to the next level . . . individually, socially, and as an entire species. Use the extraordinary energy of the Full Moon and 11/11/11 to take a giant leap forward on your path. Take time alone to meditate and think about your goals. Ask for guidance, and then be open to receiving spiritual support. Celebrate the growing connection between our reality and other dimensions . . . between the human experience and the Divine world. And always remember, “The meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away” (Pablo Picasso).
